Arrived to a foggy morning at Pineview. Bruce quickly punched six to eight holes, but the fishing was so fast we never left the first holes we let our lines down. We each had our fifty fish limits on the ice within a couple of hours.
Several times we brought up our lines to find a perch on each hook.
The perch were not huge, but they made a tasty meal. It definitely took longer to fillet them then it did to catch them.
I invited three Varsity Scouts to come ice fishing with me, but only Jason was able to make it. We arrived around 10:00, located Bruce and Mark and started fishing.
The ice moaned, groaned and popped all day, and sometime vibrated under our seats, but it’s about 12-inches thick and not really anything to worry about. We found a fish frozen in a hole that had refrozen over night.
Ice fishing with friends is a lot like sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows, laughing and talking.
Linda had to work "Martin Luther King Jr. Day", so Bruce and I hit the hard deck at Pineview Reservoir. We had a good time catching Perch and a few White Crappie. These were the first Crappie I have ever caught, so I can take them off the species to catch list. The weather was very nice, but the ice was very slippery. Linda and I had fresh fish for dinner that night; when she saw the size of the fillets she accused me of fishing out of her aquarium.
