Guadalupe River 04-06-2012

While vacationing with Mandy, Dusty, and their two girls at New Braunfels Texas just east of San Antonio, Dusty and I decided to hired a guide for a float fishing trip down the Guadalupe river, the southern most trout fishery in the United States.
The guide let us when he had to navigate the shallow portions.
The morning fishing was really slow.
The upper section of the river was lined with several homes.

I was the first to hook up. This was the first carp I have ever caught on a fly rod. It was quite the battle to get it landed.
Dusty endded up catching the most trout.
One of my ragged little trout.
Dusty also caught the biggest trout of the day.
This is where we stopped for lunch.
The lower section of the river had fewer homes. I really liked the big trees with the exposed roots.
The reason the water looks off color is because of the lime stone bedrock.
Some of the wildlife along the river.
Lots of turtles.

At the end of the float we bounded the shore with small streamers and caught a bunch of sunfish.
This was a fun trip and I would do it again.
