Washington Lake 7-5-2010

Monday July 5th I had the day off work because of Independence Day being on Sunday. Linda had to work, so I decided to go fish Washington Lake in the Uintah Mountains. The reason I choose Washington lake was because it has Arctic Grayling in it, a species of fish I have never caught. It was a very nice day to be in the mountains, a little cool in the morning, but clear blue skies. On my very first cast I caught a little Rainbow Trout, so I thought this is going to be some fast fishing, but it was another two hours before I caught my second fish. I started fishing at 8:30 am and by 5:00 pm (almost nine hours later) I had caught 24 Rainbows, 1 Brook Trout, but no Graylings. I slowly started heading for shore to go home, when I had a fish on, as I reeled it in closer to the kayak I could tell it was small and expected a Brookie, but to my surprise it was a Grayling, small but a Grayling, so scratch that one of the list.
