San Francisco Fishing 8-29-2011

Linda and I spent a couple days in the San Francisco Bay area after attending the funeral service of an aunt that had passed away. Monday morning at 5:30 am we headed out under the Golden Gate bridge with seven others to do some King Salmon fishing.

It was about an hour boat ride out to the fishing area.
The bait for the day was anchovy.
This is the 2 - 2.5 lb lead weight used to get the line down while trolling. When a fish got hooked it would pull a spring loaded pin in the brass tube above the weight and the weight would be released to make it easier to reel the fish in.
Linda ready to catch a Salmon.
Me trying to smile after throwing up. For the next five hours I was either hang over the edge of the boat chumming or sitting on this bench hoping I didn't catch a fish and have to stand up.
Heading back to the bay to try a different area. Two other guys had caught a King each. The Captain thought maybe we would have better luck in the bay.
This is the stranger part, as soon as we passed under the bridge into the bay I felt fine, ready to fish, and hungry.
Linda did fine out in the ocean. I couldn't believe it when I looked over at her eating her lunch.
Linda had a Salmon on that got off, I didn't get a bite, and only three Kings were landed along with a few that got off at the boat.

  1. Lol, sorry you got sick! The rocking on the boat did look pretty bad!
